Really good food and quick service. They have a good steak and lots of options for pasta.

Surprised the restaurant was full as the food was disappointing. I carelessly thought Gnocchi would have been tomato sauce and asked to have some, she brought a tiny dish ( about two tablespoons). Surprised when I noticed a $2.00 charge. I am embarrassed for their pettiness.

I'm a little surprised by some of the reviews here - we came here for a friends birthday and absolutely loved it. I'm a big fan of Italian food and often struggle finding good Italian restaurants that rivals my family's home cooking and I would 100% eat at Saggio again. The restaurant is small, so a reservation at prime mealtimes is recommended. Everyone was super friendly and had great recommendations. They have a seasonal rotating cocktail menu that we ordered from and some delicious food specials.
We tried the eggplant rollatini appetizer which was great and I was even more surprised by the sautéed calamari which was perfectly cooked and a different approach than your typical fried calamari. I had to order the chicken liver pate crostini and taste and texture was perfect.
For dinner I had a special - burrata ravioli in vodka sauce which I loved (how can you go wrong?)
And for dessert we shared the bread pudding which was delicious and moist.
We will definitely be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - June C.New York, NY14151Apr 1, 2024
We ate dinner here after about a year away. He had the rigatoni rage and I had gf primavera. We were both disappointed. The food was bland. Southern Italian should have more kick!
Service was great though, and still love the ambiance. Will come back for brunch...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 31140258Jul 25, 2023
Had a lovely dinner here with my friend on a Friday night. We shared the meatballs as a starter and they were super yummy with a great sauce. The pasta was good but the chicken were dry. The tiramisu was a good portion.

Dare I say, uptown's definitive Italian food experience? It's really good, they have brunch, the food is amazing. Service is super friendly and quick. Can't tell if it's designed to look like a classic restaurant or just is a hold over from old times. I'm holding back to keep this gem one of uptown's best secrets. (Don't show Secret NYC please)

Came ~5pm on Sunday. We made a reservation beforehand for a party of 2 and got seated immediately at a rectangular table wedged next to the staircase. The spot is so cramped that the two seats were 90 degree next to each other and the closest table is ~6inch away (not exaggerating this distance because neither we nor the other party seated at that table could squeeze through that space; we all had to get to our seats through the other side so minus a star). The restaurant is half full, but the staff won't let us change a table (they said the other tables are reserved for a large party but those tables remained empty the whole time we were there and the restaurant remained half full, hence removing another star).
Food was delicious for WaHi. We got several dishes:
- pumpkin soup (supposedly a daily special): savory and mildly sweet. Highly recommend
- burrata: very fresh
- spaghetti al limone: very lemony. My partner likes it, but am not a big fan of lemon in general so not my fav
- tagliatelle al funghi: absolutely delicious if you are a fan of mushrooms!
Overall, delicious food but subpar seating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 20, 2023Previous reviewHidden gem in WaHi! Had Valentine's dinner there and enjoyed a romantic dinner. Highlights are the handmade pastas and the desserts. Of note, indoor setting is more intimate/romantic than the heated outdoor patio, though both unfortunately have the tables/chairs very close together so you are basically seating very close to other guests/parties.

Ehh went to this place just because of the excellent
reViews. Wasn't so blown away. I ordered the special which was a steak, what the waitress forgot to mention was that it was smothered in mushroom sauce :(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sharon N.San Francisco, CA870Nov 11, 2023
Cozy neighborhood restaurant that offers fresh and tasty food. Pricier than the other restaurants in that area but well worth the money spent. There's a reason it's been open for so many years

My favorite local Italian restaurant. They have really good homemade pasta and the place is very cozy. They also have outdoor section as well.
