Excited to experience Tratto's Italian menu from James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Bianco.
Incredibly flavorful courses, beautiful presentation and excellent pacing. Victor was a great server and menu navigator.
Some Yelp reviews have been critical of Tratto's portion sizes and price points. Those were not issues for our dining group.
We started with the Market Salad (Arugula, Frisee and Apples), Focaccia and the Seared Chicken Livers (with Plum Jam and Fried Rosemary) from the Antipasti menu.
From the Primi section, the superb Rigatoni (with Spicy Pork Ragu) and from the secret menu, the signature Cacio E Pepe (made with pasta water, pepper and cheese).
From the Secondi section, the incredible Thin Cut Pork Chops (with Apples and Fried Sage), with a side of the Wood-Roasted Mushrooms.
We had a great meal and can't wait to return.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 56513301211Feb 24, 20241 check-in
The newest creation from Chris Blanco, a recent James Beard Award recipient. Tratto is in an industrial area near downtown that is being reclaimed.
Excellent revolving menu options. Our 4-top shared the big salad and a variety of small plates. We did try the chicken (really it was a Cornish hen) small portion for the price.
Great service. Great craft cocktails but over priced for sure.
This place is a winner.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 20, 2024Updated review
New location. New review. Tratto was moved into an old warehouse east of downtown PHX. You might want to double check your car is locked, a super sketchy area. Empty lots are adjacent. A bizarre location for such a high end restaurant.
The interior is beautiful. It felt like a movie set. Vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, open kitchen concept.
The menu concept is family style Italian and the menu is divided into 3 subcategories. We ordered the focaccia with whipped ricotta to start. Nailed it. 5 stars. We then shared 2 of the 3 pasta dishes available. Amazing. What was underwhelming were the expensive pork and chicken dishes.
Our group consisted of 4 people. My question is- how is this family style when each portion is so small? No doubt this is quality over quantity but I think I would have left more satisfied if I ordered individually.Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 3Jul 13, 2019Previous reviewTratto was incredibly tasty, but to be honest I left slightly disappointed and hungry. Non-traditional/family style Italian my group of 5 ordered 8 items off the menu. In my opinion, the highlight of the meal was the homemade pasta dishes. The rabbit dish was exceptional. The chicken, pork, and fish dishes we ordered for entrees all received 5 stars for taste. I'm docking a few stars for portion size and value. I could have easily had a pasta and entree myself.

WOW WOW WOW. What a lovely interesting fabulous restaurant in the heart of Phoenix at 16th & VanBuren. The service was amazing. Shai was sweet & knowledgeable about the amazing food choices. Fantastic service all night. She offered recommendations & they tasted amazing. If you want some amazing food in a cool eclectic restaurant go to Tratto. The menu changes. We have carrots with mozzarella and balsamic, it had a great flavor. Then we had pasta & ended with pork chops. Wow the flavors & portions were perfect. Go enjoy a night out!!!

My party and I dined at Tratto several weeks ago. The ambiance, food and service were superb, especially the chicken liver appetizer, outstanding. The experience was so terrific that we went back two weeks later. Very, very disappointing considering how good it was two weeks earlier. The chicken liver app was over done and had nowhere near the taste as previous. My entree, the lamb bolognese was so salty to be almost inedible. One of my party had the pork chops, asked for medium rare and received well done.
Hugely disappointing after having such a wonderful experience. Also, the service on the second trip was woeful. The young lady who serviced us should really learn how to smile. She acted like we were doing her a favor by being there. Our first trip was 5 star, but the second, barely 3. Do not know if I will try them again. Very disappointing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Denise M.Gilbert, AZ057145May 4, 2024
Chris Bianco really does things right! I love that this restaurant is in an old building and that they didn't try to cover it up--it's lovely. The cocktails and food are spot on! This is a great first date place!

Great place to dine with one or more. Just need to reserve in advance to ensure you'll be seated. The dinner is not meant to be quick but for an enjoyable night out.

One of the most creative and amazing flavors I ever tasted. The menu changes. The descriptions and ingredients bring wonder and the taste does not disappoint.
Staff is very attentive and full of suggestions. Food comes out quick, beautifully plated.
They took an old building and gave it a cool retro vibe.

I didn't know Bianco had other restaurants aside from Pizzeria Bianco, and I was very excited to see that it had won a James Beard Award. The offerings at Tratto are elevated and refined, and the menu isn't posted because it is always being changed. We ordered the agnolotti, a red pasta, pork tenderloin I believe and chicken liver. The agnolotti was creamy and rich, the chicken liver had all the components that made it perfect with a little bit of sweetness, the pork had a beautiful marinade and char with the perfect amount of acidity. And lastly, the ambiance is perfect for special occasions or a romantic date night.
