I walked by this place every day on my way to the office and had NO idea how great it would be! I attended with coworkers and clients for dinner and we ordered every appetizer on the menu.
The atmosphere was like being transported to the Mediterranean and the menu was well curated. Our server was friendly and shared that she is working on her Social Work degree at an Indianapolis university.
Will be returning soon with my family!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle H.Appleton, WI103646Apr 6, 2024
The service was great. They were super busy and they still managed to find a table for my boyfriend and I as walk-in. The ambiance was romantic, casual, and a hint of class. The food was delicious. I got the shrimp pasta and my boyfriend got the bolognese. I was full about 3/4 of the way but it was so good I had to finish my pasta.
And of course I had to get the tiramisu! But I saw the limoncello on the menu, so I suggested my boyfriend get it so we can try both. With our deserts we also got some espresso Romano; it was a great pairing with the limoncello.
Thanks for an awesome dinner, Vicino!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Bhumi P.Greenwood, IN1422627Apr 2, 2024
Loved the vibes and service was impeccable! We came in a large-ish group on a Friday night, but did have a reservation ahead of time! May not be entirely necessary though, as it didn't get truly busy until 8pm. I had the scallops, which were great but I do wish there was just one more! We also got each of the desserts:
limoncello bars were not super sweet, but were tart, very enjoyable if you don't love sweet desserts
tiramisu was wonderful, no qualms
cannolis were also great, crunchy and flavorful
donuts (bombolini) were good, but they were dense! more of a sharing dessert for sure
Zabaglione was fine; not sure what I was expecting but I would bot get it againHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 25, 2024
Very nice interior and location is right in the middle of mass Ave, which is great. The staff was also very accommodating as we didn't like our initial table location and they quickly moved us to a different table.
Appetizers: the arancini was very good and the oysters tasted pretty fresh. Caesar salad was also solid
Pasta: spaghetti Classico was ehh but the pesto chicken gnocchi was my favorite. Also enjoyed the carbonara topped with egg yolk.
Scallops were also great in flavor and cook except one was slightly burnt.
Dessert was really the only low point and I honestly probably just chose wrong and might be hyper critical as a baker myself. All that being said, the cake pops were rather dry and the table couldn't even finish them.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 14, 2024
Came here for lunch. The ambiance is nice. There's indoor / outdoor seating. It's on Mass Ave so you'll have to pay to park. The bruschetta was good and had a lot of toppings & flavor. The shrimp pasta was okay. It could definitely use some more seasoning. The service was quick and super nice! If I go back it will probably be for just a drink and an app. They have a pretty large drink menu. I got the sangria and I highly recommend!!

Our visit to Vicino during Devour Indy was an enjoyable culinary journey, earning the restaurant a solid four-star rating. From the moment we entered, the cozy ambiance and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a delightful evening.
The arancini at Vicino were a true standout, impressing with their perfectly crisp exterior and flavorful, creamy interior. Each bite was a delightful blend of textures and tastes.
Equally commendable was the tiramisu, a classic Italian dessert that Vicino executed with finesse. The layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and velvety mascarpone created a harmonious balance of sweetness and richness, leaving a lasting impression on our taste buds.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 302831459Dec 23, 2023
It was my friends birthday yesterday and so we had a whole day of activities planned which ended with dinner at Vicino. When choosing a restaurant we wanted somewhere nice and hopefully a place he hadn't been. Because it was a surprise we didn't know he had been to the restaurant soon after they opened.
The restaurant decor is beautiful. One side is more casual with bighter lights and higher tables and the other side is more formal with lower lighting and an almost romantic ambiance. We were seated at our table immediately after arriving and our server briefly told us the restaurant approach to Italian food. After perusing the menu, we ordered. I got the Funghi pizza, my friend got the carbonate and added chicken and the birthday boy settled on the Caesar salad.
He asked our server the size of the salad and she indicated it would be a decent portion. However, when our meals were brought to the table, the salad was more the size of a side salad on an entree plate and it was soggy and wilted. He asked the server for a fresh salad which was handled quickly.
We both noticed that our server's demeanor changed from the moment he asked for a fresh salad and it was almost like she had an attitude. At one point, she came back to the table and cleared away our side plates and unused utensils. She also cleared away my friends plate since he was done with his salad. Since he hadn't touched the cheese crisp, she didn't ask him if he was done first before removing the plate. When we got our bill, our other friend realized that the chicken she added to her carbonara was a $7 upcharge.
When the server asked if she wanted chicken with her carbonara, she should have mentioned how much the upcharge was. Most places will tell you how much an additional charge to expect and I also understand she could have asked. My friend was also not happy with the size of the salad since he had eaten there before and got the same thing and it was much larger/filling. I usually give a restaurant two chances when I have a less than stellar experience but this one that I doubt I'd visit again for awhile.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 13, 2023
We had an amazing experience here and randomly stopped in for date night when we found ourselves near Mass Ave. The restaurant feels very upscale and I love how it looks. They have a nice outdoor patio too for warmer weather.
We started with the arancini, and they were absolutely delicious, and I really loved the sauce they were plated in.
I decided to try a pizza and went for the Tuscano pizza which had a lemon arugula, artichokes and prosciutto. This pizza was delicious, it was so fresh and the flavor combinations worked so well. I hadn't had anything like this before. Our waitress was great, and helped give us with menu suggestions.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 129113Feb 29, 2024
Vicino is right in the heart of Mass Ave - usually packed, but open and airy with a lot of seats. Their cocktails are amazing and their Italian menu is pretty unique. Heavily recommend making a reservation online.
The menu reads like small plate dining but everything we got was more than filling. The cocktails are teeny tiny but very high quality liquor and creativity. Italian food isn't necessarily the most difficult cuisine, but it feels like they made it unnecessarily hard. The oven-roasted oysters were amazing but the bruschetta was begging for more tomatoes. The spaghetti was almost overly spicy with big thick meatballs. The lamb ragu was slow roasted and full of savory flavors!
I loved the vibe. Food was 4/5 stars. Definitely a cool place for a night on the town though!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 9, 2023
Vicino is a great addition to Mass Ave. with a wonderful patio. The food is a bit on the pricier side, but worth the money for a special night out.
We started with the bread and herb oil. The fish was flavorful, as was the spaghetti and meatballs.
Try one of their mock tails, you won't be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
