Pallone Holds First Youth Advisory Council Meeting With 2023 Class

January 28, 2023

Perth Amboy, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today held the first meeting of his Youth Advisory Council in 2023. This program offers high school students in New Jersey's Sixth Congressional District the opportunity to become civically engaged and to share their insight on important issues that are affecting their generation directly with the Congressman. Additionally, members learned more about the role of Congress and heard from Congressman Pallone about what he hopes to accomplish during the 118th Congress.

"I'm excited for this year's Youth Advisory Council. We have a diverse group of students, and I'm grateful to them for sharing their experiences. It's always inspiring to see the next generation show interest in the legislative process," Pallone said. "I can't wait to hear which topics the council decide to address this year."

This will be the eighth time Congressman Pallone has convened the Youth Advisory Council. The Council first convened in 2016 and allows young leaders in New Jersey's Sixth Congressional District to form committees and present a legislative agenda to the Congressman and to hear from other civically minded organizations across the district. To join the council, students must live within the district, demonstrate a commitment to public service, answer a series of questions, and provide letters of recommendation.

This year's council is comprised of 108 diverse students hailing from 34 high schools and 28 towns. The full council will officially meet three times from January 2023 to July 2022. The culmination of their work will be the presentation of their legislative agenda to Congressman Pallone.
