Robin Wright and her fiancé Ben Foster have ended their engagement, a source has confirmed to PEOPLE.

While the couple has been on-again, off-again since getting engaged in January 2014, they managed to keep this particular split quiet, as the source shares that they actually ended their engagement a few months ago.

Wright, 49, and Foster,34, met on the set of the 2011 film Rampart, and rumors of a romance popped up in early 2012 when they were spotted getting cozy in Australia.

Back in February 2014 – the House of Cards actress opened up about her "devastating" divorce from Sean Penn, and credited her new relationship for helping her move on, recalling Foster’s proposal as a pleasant surprise.

“His proposal was such a shock,” she told The Daily Telegraph. “But we felt married anyway. We’ve been together ever since the first date.”

In November of that year, the couple called off their engagement. However, they were back together a few months after their split and were spotted walking hand-in-hand at LAX in January.

In March, Wright opened up to Vanity Fair about her relationship with Foster.

“Perhaps it’s not ladylike, but I’ve never laughed more, read more or come more than with Ben,” she told the magazine in their April issue. “He inspires me to be the best of myself. There’s so much to learn. It’s endless. How great!”
