Description

Feijoa sellowiana is a drought tolerant, subtropical evergreen shrub that can tolerate regular pruning and can easily be shaped as a hedge, screen, small tree or espaliered. The recognizable leaves are oval with grey-green leaves and white woolly undersides. Attractive white flowers with purple-red interiors surround central tufts of showy long red stamens appear in late spring-early summer followed by greyish-green pineapple guava fruit.. Use in the garden as a specimen or background shrub, or as a privacy screen or informal hedge. Attracts birds and butterflies and other pollinators.

Plant care

Prefers rich soil with good drainage. Water regularly after planting until roots are established then reduce frequency. Some drought tolerance, but better with occasional irrigation. Prune to maintain desired shape. Fertilize in early spring before new growth begins.
