LEGO is no stranger to creating video game consoles, they started with the NES, and later did the Atari and most recently the PAC-MAN Arcade. While being an avid gamer throughout my childhood and teen years, none of these sets appealed to me due to the fact I am a decade (or more) too young. My first ever gaming console was a Gameboy Color, and my brother got one at around the same time. My brothers and I sunk so many hours into these consoles that my dad built us power adapters so we would stop using up all the batteries.

For those of you who remember my other reviews of Nintendo sets it will come as no surprise that I have Bowser to build. In past reviews I have been so-so on the game-style Mario sets but smitten with the 18+ NES and ? Block.

My first LEGO Mario Expansion set is one of the cheaper ones. In the games I love the Whomps, Thwomps, and Thwimps, they're in the best levels. And I had to get a power-up suit to find out how they make Mario act. Hopefully these sets will warm my opinion on the Mario theme.

It's-a LEGO Mario Time! A greeting you'll hear every time you turn on your boxy Mario figure. Are the sets as annoying as that? I hope not.

Some ideas have even made it to the review stage but were not selected for release. Then it happened, the dream came true and LEGO and Nintendo announced a partnership. The LEGO world lit up with enthusiasm.
