Donatello accomplished many things in his lifetime. Including the sculpture of David (Picture to the left). Donatello made sculptures that truly captured life and emotion. The sculpture of Penitent Mary Magdalen and Madonna delle Nuvole were his most famous work.

Donatello inspired many artists including Raphael with his paintings and sculptures. He was important to the renaissance for his realistic sculptures and relief artwork.
Born in Florence Italy sometime in 1386. He was the son of wool merchant Niccolò di Betto Bardi. Donatello began his career in a goldsmiths workshop. He was trained as a sculptor by Ghiberti, but he used his own vision to create figures that were lifelike. Donatello invented a new way of sculpting by conveying great depth and perspective (It was almost like drawing).
