See West Seattle's Bright New Raccolto, Evocative of Sibling Vendemmia

The latest Italian-inspired restaurant from Brian Clevenger opens today

West Seattle is on one heck of a roll, with the recent openings of a number of exciting bars and restaurants — New Luck Toy, Ounces, Dumplings of Fury, and an A La Mode Pies expansion, to name a handful.

Add to the mix today's launch of Raccolto, the new venture from Vendemmia's Brian Clevenger. Take a look through the photos above — the tall yet narrow space looks smaller than it is, at 1,700 square feet with a mezzanine and seating for 50, plus large windows at the front that slide open fully. The bright, pseudo-industrial feel of the design certainly evokes Vendemmia.

The menu's modern-Italian bent will feel familiar, too, with a bevy of housemade pastas, seasonal vegetable options, and seafood fresh from another Clevenger-co-owned venture, East Anchor Seafood in Madrona. Expect dishes like Hamachi crudo, housemade bucatini with lamb Bolognese and Pecorino, and whole roasted branzino with baby carrots, fingerling potatoes, and herbs. Not surprisingly, Raccolto's wine list primarily features Italian selections, with some West Coast selections in the mix.

At Raccolto, Clevenger is offering a chef's counter option similar to Vendemmia's, with a $70 price tag for a special tasting menu. Up to five diners can partake at once, while another six can belly up to the bar and drink to West Seattle's continued good fortune.

4147 California Avenue SW, (206) 397-3775, website. Open daily from 5 to 10 p.m., with happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. daily in the bar area.
