After his performance in Sunday’s controversy filled 3-3 draw between Fiorentina and Inter, Rosario Abisso will not referee a match involving Inter for the remainder of the season according to a report from Corriere della Sera.

Gabriele Gava, one of the deputy referee designators, admitted to an enraged Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta post-match that Abisso had made a mistake in awarding Fiorentina their late penalty and also told him then that Abisso wouldn’t referee another Inter match this campaign.

Marotta spoke out against the decision’s in the match and while he said he wouldn’t blame Abisso himself – or at least exclusively, it was clear that he was angry and was worried that it could have a potential impact on Inter’s final placing in the table.

Corriere della Sera state that if Inter fail to make the top four and thus qualify for the Champions League, they will miss out on the €50 million that the competition brings – a sum of money Inter would far rather have than be without.
