Italian journalist Stefano De Grandis still feels that Inter were not convincing in their 3-2 win over Atalanta on Sunday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, De Grandis argued that the Nerazzurri didn’t show defensive solidity and still needed to score several goals just to get a narrow victory.

Inter managed to put three past La Dea on Sunday to ensure that they head into the World Cup break with three points.

The pattern of the match followed the Nerazzurri’s 4-3 win over Fiorentina a few weeks ago.

In both instances, Inter relied on their very potent attack to get the result they needed, but made life difficult for themselves with some shoddy defending.

In the view of De Grandis, even though they have beaten a direct rival away from home with their victory over Atalanta, the Nerazzurri have still left some unanswered questions for this reason.

“Inter won and kept in touch with the top of the table, but their defense still didn’t look good,” the journalist argued.

“Apart from de Vrij’s error on the penalty, they also weren’t convincing on set pieces and in the closing stages.”

De Grandis noted that “Inter never win a match the scrappy way, maybe just scoring a goal and then closing up shop at the back.”
