Gallery: ‘Milan are lions’, ‘O Sole Milan!’ – today’s front pages in Italy

AC Milan booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2006-07 thanks to a 2-1 aggregate win over Napoli.

Ismael Bennacer’s goal in the first leg gave Milan a 1-0 lead to defend in Naples and they extended that to two with Olivier Giroud’s finish after an amazing run by Rafael Leao. Victor Osimhen’s late goal would be a mere consolation as the Rossoneri hung on.

Below are how the Italian papers have reacted…

Gazzetta dello Sport: Milan are lions. Champions League: Napoli eliminated, into the semi-final. After 16 years they are back among the top 4 with super Leao, Giroud on target and heroic Maignan. Pioli in history, Spalletti furious.”

Corriere dello Sport: “There’s the Diavolo. 1-1 at the Maradona: the Rossoneri in the semi-final after 16 years. #ACMilan fly into the stars. Napoli anger: penalty denied. Referee and VAR do not punish Leao foul on Lozano. Giroud breaks the deadlock.”

Tuttosport: “‘O sole Milan! Giroud from hell to paradise: Napoli cry. The Frenchman’s goal (after missing a penalty and another easy chance) cancels out the Azzurri siege. Possible derby with Inter in the semi-final.”
