Good afternoon! Konnichi wa! (こんにちは)
If you look at the chart below, you can see how far we've come. We've learned nearly half the alphabet already. What a milestone!

Let's keep on trucking. Today, I want to introduce the following Japanese sounds:
は The first sound is an easy one. Think about a short laugh, hah. It's also similar to the beginning sound in hop.
ひ This sound is also like a laugh, hee hee. Think of the beginning sound of heap. ふ This sound was taught to me two different ways. The "h" sound isn't a very strong sound and it almost sounds like a very gentle "f" sound. So if you combine those two sounds and push air through your teeth a bit, you'll have the "foo" sound. へ This sound--Ok, I just realized that most of these sounds are like laughter. See? Japanese is a very happy language!!--this sound can sound like a short laugh, he he he. ほ And the last of this set sounds like Santa out of breath, ho ho ho. The "o" sound is like in open.
Let's learn some words using this set:
ひと hito = person ひこうき hikouki = airplane ひとつ hitotsu = one thing ふたつ futatsu = two things ふく fuku = clothes ほそい hosoi = thin
