Van Augur History

Augur's early history remains shrouded in mystery, leaving much unknown about his origins, including the circumstances of his recruitment into Blackbeard's crew and the acquisition of his gun. What is clear is that he hails from the East Blue.

Following his enlistment in the Blackbeard Pirates, Augur, alongside the entire crew, orchestrated an assault on Drum Island. This operation compelled the timid

King Wapol fled hastily, marking one of the known events in Augur's past.

In the Jaya Arc, atop a house in Mock Town, Augur aimed at three seagulls, observing the outcome to determine which would meet a swift end and which would be a more prolonged one.

Later, during the night, upon Blackbeard discovering Luffy's bounty of Beli 100,000,000, the decision was made to capture him. As they set sail, Augur and the crew scoured for the Straw Hat Pirates until dawn. Augur inquired if anyone had spotted them and overheard conversations between Blackbeard and Burgess.

Upon locating the Straw Hats, the crew raced towards them with the intent to capture. However, their plans were disrupted by a Knock Up Stream, propelling the Straw Hat Pirates to Skypiea. Undeterred, Augur affirmed Blackbeard's resolve to meet the Straw Hats again, emphasizing the survival of the fittest in the world.

During the Water 7 Saga, after looting a town on Banaro Island, Augur, and the crew learned about the Straw Hats' incident at Enies Lobby. Laffitte mentioned the Sea Train and the proximity of Water 7. Augur asserted that Water 7 was not far away. While preparing to go after Luffy, Portgas D. Ace unexpectedly appeared. Despite Augur shooting at Ace when he rejected Blackbeard's offer to join their crew, the attack had no effect.

In the ensuing skirmish, Ace sarcastically remarked on Augur's lack of manners and attempted to use fire bullets, which Augur skillfully evaded. Burgess also joined the fray. Teach intervened, advising them to retreat as they couldn't defeat Ace. Despite their attempts, they were beaten by Ace, prompting Augur and the crew to withdraw on their captain's orders.

Observing the fight from a distance, Augur reflected on his belief that Devil Fruit users became vulnerable without their powers. Despite attempting to exploit this weakness, Ace, a Whitebeard division commander, showcased remarkable combat skills. Augur acknowledged the twist of fate that brought them to a crucial crossroads.

In the Summit War Saga, the Blackbeard Pirates sailed to Impel Down, passing through the Gates of Justice during the Impel Down Arc. Upon arrival, they found Monkey D. Luffy causing a ruckus on Level 4.

Navigating through Level 1, they encountered former Head Jailer Shiryu. Moving further down to Level 4, they crossed paths with escaping prisoners. Considering the encounter as fate, not a coincidence, Augur witnessed a brief clash between Blackbeard and Luffy. After conversing with the prisoners, the crew proceeded to lower levels, confronting Chief Warden Magellan.

Magellan poisoned them with his Hydra technique. Fortunately, the crew was saved by an antidote provided by Shiryu, who, in turn, joined the Blackbeard Pirates. Upon reaching Level 6, the Blackbeard Pirates organized a fight to the death among the prisoners, recruiting survivors into their crew.

In the Marineford Arc, Augur and the other Blackbeard Pirates were seen on the execution platform, watching the unfolding events of the battlefield. They had come to Marineford with the specific intent of witnessing Ace's death.

Following Blackbeard's confrontation with Whitebeard, the Blackbeard Pirates play a role in Whitebeard's downfall. After Whitebeard's demise, Augur and his crewmates covered Whitebeard's body with a black cloth and guarded Blackbeard as he demonstrated his newfound powers from the Gura Gura no Mi.

The situation escalated when Sengoku, in his Buddha form, attacked the Blackbeard Pirates with shockwaves. As Blackbeard engaged in a fierce battle against Sengoku and Monkey D. Garp, Red-Haired Shanks appeared on the scene. Faced with this formidable opponent, the Blackbeard Pirates made the strategic decision to leave rather than confront the Red Hair Pirates.

In the Post-War Arc, the Blackbeard Pirates, led by Teach, moved into the New World, resulting in the defeat of Jewelry Bonney. Amidst internal disagreements on a fiery island, the Blackbeard Pirates' raft faced potential destruction due to the massive size of Sanjuan Wolf. Attempting to strike a deal, they seemingly contacted the Marines to trade Jewelry Bonney for a battleship.

While Augur kept watch, he alerted Teach that the battleship had arrived. However, the situation took a turn when Akainu, a powerful Marine Admiral, was on board. Realizing the trade wouldn't happen, the Blackbeard Pirates hastily fled, abandoning Bonney and her crew to be captured.

During the Timeskip, one year after the war at Marineford, the Blackbeard Pirates confronted and defeated the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates. Augur, in the meantime, rose to the rank of one of the Ten Titanic Captains, leading the third ship in the fleet.

Expanding their influence, the Blackbeard Pirates utilized their captain's knowledge of Whitebeard's former territory to conquer it. With Blackbeard now recognized as an Emperor, the crew embarked on a mission to hunt down powerful Devil Fruit users, absorbing their abilities as part of their grand pursuit.

After their escapade, the Blackbeard Pirates reached an island in the New World. Some of them got frozen by the former Admiral Kuzan. However, Kuzan and Teach had a friendly chat, and Kuzan thawed the frozen crew members. Augur overheard discussions about the clash between Kuzan and Sakazuki during this celebration.

The crew then shared information with Kuzan about the Road Poneglyphs, which are crucial for reaching Laugh Tale. They mentioned "the man with the burn scar," rumored to possess the fourth and final Poneglyph. Lafitte proposed stealing Kuzan's Devil Fruit, leading Kuzan to freeze some of the crew again. However, Teach successfully persuaded Kuzan to join the crew instead.

After defeating Ochoku in the Rocky Port Incident, the Blackbeard Pirates established their operations base on the Hachinosu island. In the Whole Cake Island Saga, during the Zou Arc, the Blackbeard Pirates attacked Baltigo, the Revolutionary Army's headquarters. Although Baltigo was destroyed when the Marines and Cipher Pol arrived, the Revolutionary Army managed to escape.

The Blackbeard Pirates fled after a brief clash with Cipher Pol. In the Levely Arc, following the events at Totto Land, Augur heard his captain's remarks about Luffy not being ready to be called an Emperor yet while they were in Hachinosu.

Moving to the Wano Country Saga, during Germa 66's "Ahh... An Emotionless Excursion," Augur and Kuzan went to Cacao Island.

Charlotte Cracker attempted to hinder them from kidnapping Pudding, but Kuzan froze Chocolat Town, including Cracker and the residents. Augur and Kuzan then took Pudding back to their ship. In the Final Saga's Egghead Arc, Koby was abducted by the Blackbeard Pirates and taken to Hachinosu as a prisoner.

Augur, alongside his fellow Titanic Captains, was present as Teach unveiled a plan to use Koby as a bargaining chip to have Hachinosu recognized as a country affiliated with the World Government.

Knowing that either Law, Kid, or Luffy would come to Winner Island after leaving Wano, Teach decided to wait there with Augur, Jesus Burgess, Doc Q, and Stronger. They aimed to steal copies of the Road Poneglyphs from whichever crew arrived.

When they spotted the Polar Tang of the Heart Pirates, the Blackbeard Pirates attacked it, creating several holes in the submarine's hull. At that moment, Augur used his abilities to teleport Burgess to the island.

During Teach's confrontation with Law, Augur attempted to shoot Law, but Bepo alerted Jean Bart, who shielded Law from the attack. Augur commented on Jean Bart's resilience. Realizing that Law had harmed Teach, Augur criticized his captain for rushing into a fight without a plan. He suggested retiring, but Teach refused.

Later, the Blackbeard Pirates managed to defeat the Heart Pirates, leaving them adrift at sea with the Polar Tang sunk and destroyed. As Teach contemplated what to do with Law's Devil Fruit, Bepo consumed a special drug made by Chopper, allowing him to transform into Sulong without the need for a full moon. Bepo attacked the crew, seizing Law and swimming away.
