Celebrating Two Decades of Art and Wine: Art Park La Court

Italy

In the heart of Italy’s enchanting wine region, a visionary project took root two decades ago, creating a harmonious fusion of art and wine. The year 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Art Park La Court, a breathtaking open-air museum nestled among the rolling hills of Castelnuovo Calcea. Conceived by Michele Chiarlo, this daring endeavour proved to be more than an artistic showcase; it became a transformative masterpiece, where creativity and nature intertwine.

In the summer of 2003, Art Park La Court emerged as an unparalleled testament to the symbiotic relationship between art and vineyard. Beyond a mere collection of sculptures, it evolved into an immersive experience, a realm where art shapes the landscape and the land inspires artistry. Guided by the spirit of Cesare Pavese’s words, the park aimed to unveil the “unknown to memory and imagination.” Sculptors, painters, potters, and artisans converged, breathing life into a shared artistic vision.

Michele Chiarlo’s vision found its canvas on the canvas of Tenuta La Court, a sprawling twenty-hectare estate in Castelnuovo Calcea. Here, Giancarlo Ferraris, an artist and a creative collaborator with Chiarlo, orchestrated a dynamic ensemble of artists and craftsmen. A synergy of talents emerged, resembling a “Warholian Factory” in the heart of the Italian countryside.

More than a static exhibition, Art Park La Court is an ever-evolving journey. As the years flowed, Art Park La Court flourished, breathing life into cultural events, workshops, music, and exhibitions. It remains a dynamic space, perpetually evolving and weaving the legacy of art into the very fabric of the Piedmont vineyards.
