AI and the Law

AI for Legal Professionals Series

Inspiration:

There has been a significant push to educate lawyers about technology. Several states have specific CLE categories for Technology and the Law. But the focus of these courses, seminars, and workshops is always on how lawyers can utilize new technology to assist in their legal practice. There are currently no offerings discussing how technology in general, and AI specifically, are fundamentally altering the practice of the law. Legal professionals cannot effectively perform their critical role within the legal system or society if they don't understand the technology that is fundamentally changing how the legal profession, society, and the world works. This series is designed to fill that gap and empower legal professionals to actively decide the role AI will play in the profession, and society at large, before the tech industry decides for everyone.

AI Primers

Artificial intelligence is an extremely complex subject. It is this complexity that has made it inaccessible to ordinary citizens. But AI is affecting ordinary citizens in extraordinary ways every day. They have a right to have a say in the process. And we technologists have a responsibility to empower them by explaining the subject in a way that is accessible to everyone. We need to balance the excessive hype with the reality of what statistically-based high-powered pattern matching systems are actually capable of. Check out our Primers for more information.
