Exercise Needs

The Siberian Husky needs plenty of outdoor exercise. This breed is most suited to a country home. Siberian Huskies like to wander, so a large fenced yard recommended. This breed tends to make an excellent jogging companion. However, do not let the Husky get overheated. This breed tends to be destructive if left alone for long periods of time.

Grooming Needs

Your Siberian Husky's thick double coat needs daily brushing. This breed sheds constantly. Bathe only if absolutely necessary.

The Siberian Husky has a great personality, it loves action and excitement. This is a curious breed that needs to stay occupied. It requires plenty of attention and companionship. Siberian Huskies are versatile and hard-working, but not overly affectionate.

Compatibility with Kids

Usually good with kids and other medium-sized dogs. Due to its predatory nature, can be dangerous to cats and other small animals.

History

This ancient breed is at least 3,000 years old. It was bred by nomads as a sled dog and was introduced to North America in the early 1900s.

Siberian Huskies are very vocal, if left alone, they may howl, bark and destroy things. Puppies can be hard to train -- much patience and love is needed. These dogs like to steal food, too. Purchase one only from a reputable breeder to avoid temperament problems due to poor breeding.
