Back in the 70's,80's and 90's when I really hit the military airshows I got hooked on Tomcat patches because they were so unique and colorful and just plain cool. Hope you enjoy the pics.

These are fantastic...

The AWG-9/Phoenix was so far ahead of its time, so much more capable than anything flying. Whether you believed it worked as well as stated (i.e. Iranians and I guess Iraqi's lol), or not - it had a fearsome reputation. I had one F-14 driver tell me "The Iraqi's sure believed it, and didn't stick around to gamble and find out otherwise - so that's still a win". He's right of course, and I tend to think had the USN used it in any numbers they would have found out what the Iranians did - it was a hell of a weapon.
