Alfa Romeo is preparing to launch the Milano, an all-new electric SUV, in April 2024. This model, bearing the name of the renowned Italian city, marks a significant turn towards electrification for the brand, blending Alfa Romeo's sporting heritage with forward-thinking electric vehicle technology.

The Milano, closely related to the Jeep Avenger, is based on Stellantis's e-CMP platform. It's a compact 4.2-meter-long crossover, sharing its batteries and motors with the Avenger but designed to offer a distinct driving experience focused on agility.

Manufactured in the same facility in Poland as the Jeep Avenger, the Milano’s design has been partially revealed through leaks, suggesting a vehicle that aligns with Alfa Romeo's traditional design ethos while embracing the future of electric mobility. The Milano is aimed at providing an accessible yet premium option for those interested in electric vehicles.

Globally, the Milano will be offered as both a pure electric vehicle (EV) and a mild-hybrid, employing a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine similar to that in the 600 and Avenger. The initial launch will feature a performance-oriented, four-wheel drive electric powertrain, with trim levels including Veloce and Special Edition.

This move to offer a four-wheel-drive EV configuration represents a new direction for e-CMP-based vehicles, underscoring Alfa Romeo's commitment to delivering performance in the electric vehicle sector.

While Alfa Romeo hasn't disclosed specific sales targets or pricing for the Milano, it's expected to enter the market at a competitive position. For the Australian market, the estimated starting price of just under £40,000 translates to approximately 76,000 AUD, placing the Milano in a segment with potential rivals like the MINI Countryman and Volvo’s EX30.
