Ital Oscillazioni

Providing an insight into the world of synthesizing and Milan’s often overshadowed music scene, Italian musician Ital Oschillazioni creates authentically without personal parameters. Ital recently uploaded a Youtube video depicting a brief moment within the long creative process of the disco genre. The video helped to summarize an often complicated style of music creation, whilst remaining authentic to its’ craft. During his live performances, Oschillazioni manages multiple synths simultaneously, which is incredibly difficult both technically and creatively. During 2020, we can look forward to two new albums released with notable labels from Ital Oschillazioni.

How long have you been making creative disco music?
I’ve always been an attentive music listener but I started to take it seriously when I was fifteen. With a first approach in the synth-pop genre before getting close to disco music 5/6 years ago.

What influenced you to pursue a disco music career?
I've always been passionate about the synthesizer, and this has led me to get closer to the genre. The idea of what can be created with its use alone got me to try every possibility and extension. Which is when the Italian disco finds its maximum expression.

Why would you say your sound is different than any other?
I'm one of the few in this genre who does live performances. The main characteristic of disco music is to create sounds with more than one synth. So the difficulty of doing this live is managing multiple synths simultaneously during the performance. And also carrying 5 synths around too...

How far do you go to try and get your music heard?
I'm in love with the 80's sound, that's where I find my main inspiration. Then I add my musical influence, m

How has being a musician in Milan developed your music?
Talking about a city in this way is not worth much at the moment, with the internet you can get inspiration and develop your artistic profile from anywhere you find yourself to be. I must say that my music profile has developed through the various experiences I’ve had in various cities - Pescara, where I grew up, Berlin, Rome, and Milan - this developed my musical profile and taste. Especially the influences of Northern Europe.

In your opinion what major differences are there between the disco scene in Italy compared to the rest of Europe?
Actually, I don't have a great esteem of the current musical panorama of Milan and, more generally, Italy. I don't find appreciation and realness in club music culture. The artist of his music regardless of the place and the organization of the evening should be displayed. Milan is the city of fashion, and this often leaves the music in the background. This is the big difference between Milan and Northern Europe, where we often go to an evening because it is cool and trendy.

You describe your music as electronic, space and horror disco wave, how is this demonstrated in your tracks?
Everything I play is characterized by an overbearing synthetic bass line, in which I build up atmospheres that delineate more of a genre than another. I mean.. just go listen to my tracks.

Describe the process making your "ITALOSCILLAZIONI Live analog set" on YouTube?
The video bears my stage name, I just wanted to give a brief picture of what I am doing during my lives, so I tried to summarize it in 20 minutes (very short time for this kind of genre). I really hope I achieved that.

You have a track called "Very obscure ITALIAN Italodisco vinyl 7" DJ set" on SoundCloud, what does this track stand for to you?
I'm an instrumentalist and passionate about synthesizers, not a deejay it was never my idea to be one. But at the same time, during the years, I've enjoyed collecting very rare Italian vinyl records from a time when disco was a piece of unconscious music. These are very trivial songs but also very interesting. They kind of represent really well the years in which there was a lot of musical superficialities that gave birth to this genre: the union of the synthesizer and the unawareness which was used to create this very fun atmosphere. In this set, I just selected and mixed together some of these pieces of vinyl.

What are your future intentions in your music career?
I am currently carrying out various projects and collaborations. In 2020 I will be coming out with two albums under two well-known labels. But above all, I will never stop representing my love for these machines that have become my g!
