The Artist's Jean Dujardin has reportedly split from his wife Alexandra Lamy.

Dujardin made the revelation during an awards gala in Paris on Tuesday (November 12), according to the Daily Mail.

"It has been eight months that tabloids have been trying to make me out as depressed, an alcoholic, a womaniser... This is no more, or less, than the story of a couple who are separating, like any other couple," he was quoted as saying.

Dujardin and Lamy's relationship began after they starred together in the French comedy series A Guy, A Girl.

They later married in July 2009.

Dujardin won an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award for playing George Valentin in Michel Hazanavicius's silent film The Artist.

He will also appear in director Martin Scorsese's upcoming movie The Wolf of Wall Street.
