Microsoft has just released another two backwards compatible games today, both of them first person shooters from the Call of Juarez series.

The first, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a Western-themed, first-person shooter set in the years of 1864–1866. Although it is the second game in the series, it's actually a prequel to the original Call of Juarez. Originally released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on June 30, 2009, the game takes place about twenty years prior to the first game, and focuses on the McCall brothers, who abandon their post during the war to try to save their family home. After being labelled deserters, they go on the run, accompanied by their younger brother William, a priest. Once they flee to Mexico, they hear the legend of the Gold of Juarez, and with their army commander still pursuing them, they enter into a dangerous alliance with Mendoza and an Apache tribe in order to find the gold.

The second game was not as well reviewed, called Call of Juarez: The Cartel. This one is again a first-person shooter, but they bail on the old school western aesthetic, instead setting the action in modern-day Los Angeles and Mexico with up to three players taking the role of law enforcement agents. Released on July 19, 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 the game was received mixed to negative reviews, mainly because it turns out that no one wants to be cops in LA when they could be outlaws in the wild west.

As usual, if you still own a physical copy of either title, you can just insert the disc into your Xbox One and start blasting, but if you don't, you can use your digital version in the ready to download section of the games and apps menu.
