About the village

Characterizing the charming appearance of Ravascletto are mainly the typical Carnia houses that are encountered numerous along the hamlets and villages of the town. Examples of these traditional and ancient dwellings are the Coulada, Baldisar and de Stalis houses. In the hamlet of Zovello, on the other hand, it is worth seeing the Church of St. Andrew, a religious building of medieval origin that is very interesting and in whose interior some painted panels and wooden statues stand out. Other historically interesting religious buildings are the Church of St. John in the hamlet of Salars, the small Church of the Holy Spirit near the hamlet of Som la Vila, and the Church of St. Matthew in the hamlet of Stalis, the latter with two large canvases and some valuable paintings from the 1500s inside.

In addition to several fascinating examples of architecture and religious buildings, the hamlet of Ravascletto boasts an enormous natural heritage. A high percentage of the territory is wooded, with spruce trees giving the landscape a very special and striking image in the winter season.

Summer in Ravascletto
The historic region of Carnia offers visitors an exceptional naturalistic landscape where many hikes can be taken: from healthy walks in the heart of the surrounding nature to more challenging hikes. A favorite is the hike to Mount Zoncolan, with a natural landscape at the top with plenty of trails to explore. Along the trails are huts and mountain pastures, places to stop and observe nature in all its facets.
For incurable two-wheeled fans, the route of the Panoramica delle Vette, about 35 kilometers long, is a must-do. A road that can only be traveled in summer that should not be missed.

Winter in Ravascletto
The village of Ravascletto is a particularly popular resort in winter, the mountainous setting that surrounds the village is in fact home to famous skiing areas. There are also many ski sports competitions, of national and international level, organized in Ravascletto. On Mount Zoncolan, the Suart circuit, at an elevation of about 1,300 meters and 2.5 kilometers long, is one of the most popular European trails for cross-country skiers. Also on Zoncolan is the Arena Freestyle Snow Park, another well-known and popular facility in the winter season.
Ski touring trails, on the other hand, lend themselves to those who want to stay away from the crowds on the slopes and still experience the enchanting magic of the snow-capped mountains. In addition, modern cable car facilities make it easy to get to the top of Zoncolan to enjoy the facilities and wonders of nature in total comfort. In addition to Mount Zoncolan there are peaks, with heights above 2,000 m, such as the Cimone di Crasulina and Mount Crostis.

Typical dishes and events
The local gastronomy could only be characterized by the old Carnic tradition: game, vegetables, cheeses, herbs, mushrooms and berries. Genuine and tasty dishes stand out in these parts, such as cjarsons, a kind of stuffed agnolotti, frico, a cheese dish, and apple sauce.
There are also several events in Ravascletto related to local traditions. Of note are the celebrations for Christmas, the feast of St. Anne, Epiphany, and Carnival.

One of the celebrations par excellence that takes place every year in August in the village is the Fiesta Tas Corts, an event that takes place in the courtyards and inner courtyards of Ravascletto and host different gastronomic experiences. Participants will find typical specialties made by the village women according to their own family recipes.
Not to be forgotten, also in August, on the program are sports events such as the Maina di Mont, an amateur march, and the classic team mountain running competition: the relay race of the peaks.

Our news about Ravascletto

It is one of the symbols of Friulian gastronomy and is born in the villages of the Carnia, in particular in Tolmezzo. A fifteenth-century tradition that has covered the centuries and recalls the period in which this cake was made to use the scraps of cheese - defined "strissulis" - which exceeded once the shaping of the forms has been completed. As often happens, the versions of this delicacy are numerous and widespread is also the frico enriched with small cuttings of speck or vegetables. To make frico it is fundamental to choose cheese,...
