Sylvester Stallone is currently riding high on the success of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where he reprised his role of Skatar Ogord. Even at age 76, he is barely showing any signs of slowing down professionally, and his incredible bodybuilding and fitness regime has an important role to play in it. Stallone has had a chiseled and jacked physique throughout his action-packed career, which he still maintains to this day. Since he gets a lot of questions from fans regarding how he is able to still maintain it, Stallone responded to this query around a year ago.

Sylvester Stallone addressed last year how people in the streets and fans all over the world, always ask him how he is so fit even at his age. While at first, he talked about a healthy diet, Stallone then turns his camera to the few food items he had on his desk and urged everyone to gorge on them.

In a video clip titled “The secret of eternal health”, Sylvester Stallone turned on the selfie mode of his camera and said, “People ask. ‘Hey Sly, how do you stay in shape and what do you eat?'” He then went ahead and replied, “Well it’s very simple. You need a very diverse diet, something that covers all the bases, that brings out the tendons, the muscles, builds bone marrow, brain cells…” as if he was addressing all those people who have asked him the question over the years.

He continued, “Like pancakes (ummm), ice cream, more ice cream, and water, so I can wash my tank top when I am done”. At this point in time, he had turned his camera toward his desk where the said food items were placed. He then signed off by saying a signature phrase, “Keep punching”.

While it’s not entirely clear if Stallone was actually urging everyone to maintain a pancake-heavy and ice-cream-heavy diet since he could’ve been joking around as well. But his diet and training routine from when he started out in movies, is something vastly different from what he suggested in the clip.

Sylvester Stallone started his training with the 1976 Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu. At the time he was training for Rocky II, his meal consisted of oatmeal cookies made of brown rice and a couple of scoops of tuna. Stallone avoided red meat during the time, owing to his stomach problems, but instead relied on easily digestible proteins. 20 cups of coffee with honey, whose each spoonful contained 64 calories, was also not amiss.

During Rocky III, the star’s diet was so strict that it posed physical complications.
