Abu Dhabi Corniche, is situated along the north-western shore of the capital, has always been a popular location for rest and relaxation, as well as a signature destination for many high-profile entertainment and sporting events in recent years.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

The Corniche Area 
has developed into a prime recreation venue in Abu Dhabi. It is a long road that extends almost 6 km or 4 miles from the Sheraton Hotel to the Hilton Hotel, and carves a path along the sea front on one side of the road, and the spectacular array of high rise buildings, hotels and parks along the other side, it’s a sensational walk or drive along the corniche either during the day and absolutely stunning during the evening. These available recreation facilities are complemented with great a range of restaurants and coffee shops with outdoor dining areas.



Presently, the Corniche is marked at one end by the breakwater that includes the Marina Mall and Abu Dhabi theatre, while the other tip is known for its traditional port and Iranian souq. 

Thousands of visitors, tourists and residents alike, flock to the Corniche area, and take in the sights and sounds and enjoy the beautiful environment all year round.

The Corniche is constantly a hub of activity, and running along one side are beautiful sandy beaches, segmented into small portions with different entrance gates. There is a public beach, with no entry fee, where you can just stroll onto, and enjoy the sun, sand and warm water, alternatively there is a beach where you pay an entrance fee (around 10dh), where you can access the beach with your family and enjoy food and drink concessions, toilet facilities etc. On this beach you are able to rent beach umbrellas and sun loungers, keep the receipt and you will be able to access all the beach sections without paying again the entrance fee.

The Corniche’s paved pathways make it an ideal place to walk or cycle. Bikes and pedal cars for children and adults are available for rent. Corniche Abu Dhabi is a perfect place to spend leisure time...

The Corniche has been very well planned and offers something for everyone, walkways are spacious, there is a special cycle track running alongside, where the more athletic can cycle, roller blade or skateboard, you can hire a pedal go cart or bicycle at a very reasonable rate.

Various concerts and festivals regularly draw thousands to the Corniche, many of them free events sponsored by both the government and local event companies, When the weather is cooler, the Corniche hosts Beats on the Beach a week long festival of local music and international DJ’s, and keeps the area buzzing till the early hours, another week sees a series of Yalalam concerts and workshops which draw big crowds and a diverse slice of our community here, with something going on for everyone. In the spring, the World of Music, Art and Dance (WOMAD) makes the Corniche a centre of culture in Abu Dhabi, as international artists highlight their traditions and arts, with singing, dancing and performances.

The Corniche is also home to many prominent financial institutions such as the Arab Monetary Fund, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, it also includes dozens of local and international banks and finance houses.

Towards one end of the Corniche sits the fabulous Emirates Palace Hotel, which opened its doors in 2005 has become an iconic representation of the capital, playing host to big conferences, concerts and events.

At the opposite end of this prestigious road, sits the Corniche Hospital, this Abu Dhabi Health Services Company facility sees an average of 32 births per day, and specialises in obstetric and neonatal care.

There are two mosques dotted along the Corniche, which have been standing for almost thirty years. Particularly at the weekend, they are filled with families carrying out their prayer rituals, and enjoying their leisure time at the Corniches’s many sights and attractions.
