Created by F-Zero GX developer Amusement Vision, Virtua Striker is the most popular arcade soccer videogame in Japan (this ignores the Hitmaker-developed card based games which are the most popular arcade attraction overall for the country). The series has appeared on numerous arcade boards, from Sega's Model 2, Model 3 and Namco boards to, most recently, the Namco, Nintendo and Sega Triforce board.
Virtua Striker 3 was later released for GameCube, but netted poor sales. Sega has, at this point, not commented on console plans for Virtua Striker 4.
