Martha Stewart Clapped Back at Critics Who Said She Should Dress Her Age

At 82 years old, Martha Stewart is still a fashion force to be reckoned with. From the plunging white one-piece she wore in her history-making Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover to her high-slit and sheer dresses on the red carpet, age is simply just a number when it comes to the lifestyle entrepreneur's personal style. And for anyone who thinks otherwise, the reigning queen of thirst traps isn't interested in your opinion. 

This week, Martha was asked by Page Six at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala in New York City about her thoughts on "dressing for one's age, and without missing a beat, she clapped back, quipping: "Dressing for whose age?" 

“I’ve dressed the same since I was 17,” Stewart continued. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.” She added, "I don’t think about age. I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them."

Back in May, Stewart shared a similar sentiment while opening up about her iconic Sports Illustrated photo shoot, telling Today that she was adamant about not wearing "an old-lady bathing suit" on the cover alongside fellow bombshells Megan Fox, Kim Petras and Brooks Nader, despite the fact that she's decades older.

"I did say to the editors, 'I don't want to wear any old-lady bathing suits. I don't want little bows and stuff here and there, and cover-ups. I did not go for that look," she explained. "I went for a nice, healthy, energized and, if you want to call it 'sexy,' sort of sexy look." Stewart added, "What I hope I exude is 'appealing.'"
