A stunning conversion. 10/10

In terms of playability this is the definitive Speedball 2.

The playing field is much larger than on the well loved Amiga/ST/Mega Drive versions, so it works better as a passing game (it's the polar opposite of the pretty but cramped GBA game) and is also faster than the Amiga version, which makes the C64 game the ultimate challenge for Speedball 2 aficionado's.

I play this to death regularly. I have Speedball 2 on the C64, Master System, Game Boy, Atari ST, Amiga, Mega Drive, GBA, PS1 and PS3.

It's #1 in my list of 300+ Mega Drive games.

But if you value gameplay you understand that the C64 game is the best version of Speedball 2.

After playing the Amiga version, the GFX in the C64's were a bit of a joke! The arena was drab and the sprites badly defined. It also was just another sports game. :pissed:

Could a sports game get any better? Violence, fast action and smooth playability with nice graphics.

I agree with you Jolly Roger!
This is an awesome game, if played with friends... Hours will fly.
I think C64 is better than the Amiga version(also fantastic) 'cause players are smaller and all is more clear... 9/10

Brutal action and fast gameplay, great classic, and better than the Amiga version.

This game is fast and furious! Certainly as good as the brilliant Amiga version!

Basically, I 'd suggest all you to read the original Zzap review (issue 78), where it points out how the C64 version is an improvement over the Amiga original.

The Amiga version IS the greatest game of all time, it's only down fall being that you should have been allowed to carry on playing beyond two seasons.

Amiga version is certainly superior to this version. Along with Lemmings, the best game released for the Amiga. I can't wait for Speedball Arena for the PC.

Amiga version easily beats this

The best futuresport game out there... Still playing it on my megadrive!!! How did they make such great games with the use of only 1 button in game???

Now, this is ACE. Amazingly fast and playable, this is something like a futuristic version of soccer. It just beats the crap out of all the other soccer games released for the C64. If you like football games, dowload this, you won't regret it. Awesome...
