Initially it seems a very good game, but after a while became so annoying! I could not feel a real sense of making progress There is little involvement and I found some bugs. At level 6, at the final exit the guard never went away even though I knew by heart the walkthrough video. I restarted again from level 1, at level 5 I got stuck inside the Arena. Enya and Shellas never started that conversation "Now that we're alone.." even though I was using the right object.. (why this time did it not work!?) Levels are huge and there are very little rewards to replay the game again!

Mostly enjoyable (except for the painful fade ins/outs). Texts are quite pleasant/funny (and include the usual "its" -> "it's" mistake, and a genitive turned into a plural). A speedier / more reactive interface would've been better. Puzzles are generally nice. The "pushover" puzzle is nasty. A couple of puzzles should have been solvable also with a slightly different (more sensible) interaction. What are the papers taken from the barrels? They don't appear in the inventory and it's possible to finish the game without them - strange for something that had been strongly hinted at. A bug allows to finish the game without completing the castle area*. I know it's done also by other more famous games, but the eternal restoring of enemies, blocks, chests, etc. Is irritating. Fighting is sometimes a chore. The (few) bosses are nice. The keys indicator is unnecessary and the whole HUD could have been put in a single row (this would have reduced the screen bandwidth, which might have helped avoid some slowdowns). Not important, but the inventory screen is uselessly huge and split in 4 parts, 2 of which are unused: it makes one wonder. Why the reachable but inactive areas in the map? Maybe the game was planned to be bigger?

Code: 7
Graphics: 4
Music: 8.5
Sound effects: 7
Gameplay: 7
Puzzles: 7
Overall: 6.5

*SPOILER ALERT: the door that gives access to the sleeping rooms area can be entered with the hyper boots.

Compare Speris Legacy with Chrono Trigger is just an aberration. Do you know how many people worked in the development of this game? More than 50 people. Back in 1995, it was the more important project of the Square history! Speris Legacy has been created by only 6 people! This ability to develop a RPG game that needs about 4 hours to be completed with the solve is just astonishing. Graphics are very nice, varied and colorful. There are more than 30 cute musics and a lot of surprises that await Cho during his adventure.

So of course, there is less content, graphics are less detailed, story is not as exciting as the one of a lot of J-RPG developped by huge teams but I think it's some of the greatest projects initiated on the Amiga and maybe the last on our beloved computer. At the time, we were already entering in an era of big projects that needed a lot of people to see the light of day during more than 10 years until the indie games advent at the end of the 2k years. To all SNES fanboys, STOP TO BE ELITIST . Speris Legacy is a great independant game and despite of obvious flaws, without looking to compare it with projects so much more important such as Zelda (whose graphics are not so extraordinary) or Chrono Cross on SNES, I had great time playing this Binary Emotions game. Many thanks to Team 17 for publishing this game

Quite engaging game for me. It is a fairy tale with many amusing moments. I played whdload version, but I had to create my own whd from IPF files, the game from whdownload.com crashed a lot on my amiga. My whdload version crashed too, but not so many times. I assume 5 times during gameplay. I finished it in 6 days and I entertained myself very well.

Interesting game but not one of the best. Graphics are childish but after a while you can accept them. Storyline is typical - a good hero must find and defeat an evil dude. There are few puzzles based on a "come to place X, then go away, after a while return to place X because something has changed" which I personally don't like. In two places (Tunnels and Speris castle) I encountered strange issues which seemed to be bugs.
Overall not a bad game but can be annoying.

Bizarre colour choices. Looks garish and ugly. Go play Zelda instead.

What the heck is "Speris"? Wiktionary doesn't recognize that word.

To gain a proper perspective:

- Get a Super Famicon (yes, it's really 'n')
- Complete Chrono Trigger without cheating
- Admire the beautiful graphics
- Enjoy the glorious musics
- Feel satisfaction from the great sound effects
- Breathe in the euphoric, thick atmosphere
- Get immersed into the 'story' that actually feels integral to the game (unlike in most other games) about TIME TRAVEL (!)

Then come back and play "Speris Legacy".

Super Famicon has only 262144 color palette, AGA-Amigas have 16777216. Any AGA-game like this should therefore look BETTER than Chrono Trigger, but it looks much, much worse. This game looks like it was done completely on an OCS Amiga.

Chrono Trigger is full of beauty on the obvious and on the subtle level. This game just looks plain and not very colorful. It's like a NES-game by comparison.

Even Square was never able to make a game as brilliant and magical as Chrono Trigger, but with a magical computer like the Amiga, there was at least the possibility of it happening. This could have been it.

Too bad that it wasn't.

Too long, didn't read? Ok, two words: "Chrono" and "Trigger"

Those are real words with real meaning, that give the player a bit of information without revealing the mystery of the specifics. Brilliant.

"Speris Legacy" just sounds like a nonsense word with a cliche word. Yawn.

(This doesn't accept the proper way to write the word 'cliche' - a poorly implemented comment box in 2015? Sigh.)

You are being too negative, it looks like a 64 color game, definitely not an Atari ST game. The graphics are fine. In fact i think they look great.

Not sure why this was AGA only.Never played it, but on the surface it doesn't look that impressive...

You people are being too negative! I love Team 17 for releasing a game in such a critical time, look how many publishers didnt! Its not a rush-job either, its a very good looking game that is polished front to back. If you dont like this sort of game, then dont comment!

Man, thats fun. The riddles are not to hard, the gameplay is fluent and the atmosphere quite nice. So I dont care that it is a Zelda clone. Nicely stolen might be better than a bad own production .

Very good Zelda clone. A few puzzles are kinda hard to connect, but most of them are well thought and battle mechanics are very good. Gfx and sound are very detailed and fitting. Very good game 9/10.

I know that it uses more than 16 colors, but they've been chosen horribly and there's NO WAY that there are 256 of them.

During the last days of the Amiga, it was sad to see how all the major game studios turned to other markets one by one. Some small developers tried to fill the void. Their efforts ultimately did not measure up to the standards of the time. The released products fell short of expectations, even of those of a desperate, dwindling market. Shortly after the release of the Zelda clone Speris Legacy, then-publisher Team 17 finally decided to cut their losses and left the Amiga forever.

A very good Zelda-clone from Team 17! A little slow paced but nice. Graphics is nice and music fits to the game's atmosphere very well. The last Amiga title from Team 17 too? At the time the game was released Commodore had been dead for 2 years already, so it was great that a game as quality as this was still released. 8/10
