Well, some of you might be disappointed but I think that CD32 version of the game is a very nice enhancement to the original. Of course you may miss some recognisable elements ("ice cream!" but if look at it from a different angle, you will see many positives. For starters clearly visible players, the ball and power-ups. The game is also faster and more fluid. More vivid colors may seem a bit odd to those who get accustomed to the blue and grey tones of ECS version but I think they create a lot of freshness (in particular when you consider that it was released several years later). One thing that really sounds strange are the tunes which are a bit out of the league and the main game titletune disappeared completely (probably because of licencing problems).

So they had this great art style in Speedball 2 and The Chaos Engine, and then decided to make AGA versions with lots of saturated colors like pink and yellow. It just looks horrible. Play the original versions.

Make no mistake, this is the real definitive version of the game. This is the bums hit! You play as Brutal Deluxe at the bottom of the league, and you slam, skid and crush all opposition on your way to the top. Everyone should stop whatever they're doing, rush out and buy this game now.

They just changed the palette a little bit, doubled the colors and there you go.
The pale colors of the original just don't match with the saturated ramps they added here and it shows. I am not sure Dan Malone did this mistake. Maybe they hired some newbie and told him to simply alter colors for this.
Amiga days were done with the end of the A500.

Another AGA flop from our beloved perfectionnist rockstars.

OK there is one good point : the ball and bonuses are easier to spot.
Otherwise it's the same lazy recolored pixels (as chaos engine). I don't like the CD tracks and the nice main theme is gone. The worst is the chaotic ambiance sound wich I find very annoying and amateurish (and mixed too high, it covers the effects too much).

Even though this version of Speedball 2 features more colors and looks sharper, I still prefer the palette of the original OCS graphics. The pink and green color scheme is difficult to get used to after you have played the original game for several years - which people had when it was re-released for the CD32.

"ice cream" IS GONE, the nice Funky tune is GONE, the nice color pallette is GONE...what's left? I have been quite disappointed by this CD conversion, compared to the floppy original. Sorry...

This pains me just like the AGA version of Chaos Engine... They just messed with the pallet, and oh boy... Does it suck! The game is the same, and still heaps of fun... But those colours....

What were they thinking? The greenish-pinkish colour scheme is indeed ugly and seems to be the only difference between the CD32 and the disk version.
Still a great game though.

No no no no no!!!

A terrible CD32 version!!

Considering I gave the disk version a score of "10", I'm reluctantly giving this at least a "7" because the game is still the same.... But those hideous colour scheme (how did AGA manage to look worse than OCS?!) , the lack of tons more player-data etc. Which the CD version could of had!! The rubbish CD music!

The crowd CD-tracks are OK, but isn't even the "ice-cream!" missing? (I forget)

The best Bitmap Brothers game got better on its CD32 version adding some important enhancements... The graphics get 256 colours, sound had CD quality... OK, surely the CD32 enhancements could be more, but... Who cares?
