"Ween" is a very unusual and difficult game. Point and click interface derived from "Goblins'" series works well but unfortunately color reduction of the graphics makes this game a real struggle (not to mention that many of the animation and screens are not available in Amiga version including title screen). Looking for small objects, trying to figure out what is what and how to use it is quite a challenge. Add to this the fact that the game has its own universum which does not necessarily convince me but for a specific player it may be a quite interesting experience. I managed to complete the game but I must admit I had heavily supported myself with Sierra's help manual. The puzzles were too strange thus too difficult for me.

It needs to be mentioned that in this game there are two moments when plot branches out - two puzzles can be solved in two different ways skipping some of them. It is quite interesting because it was not common back in those days.

Ween is a really nice game, as a lot of Cocktel Vision productions. It's obvious that their games were at first developped on PC then converted on Amiga/ST. I think this conversion work is really well done on games such as Goblins series and Fascination, keeping colorful GFX despite the decrease from 256 to 16 colors (thanks again, damn Atari ST) on the screen. Sadly, that's not the case here. They make the choice of unique color gradients resulting on monochrome aspect. Ween uses motion capture with real grimed actor faces filmed and digitized. Maybe they considered the conversion work more difficult and didn't want to make more effort on this one. Even some puzzles have been modified just to facilitate conversion work. A real shame on Amiga.

I played this one with friends in 1992 so I keep good memories of it on Amiga but for once if you want to discover Ween The Prophecy, you'd be wise to play it on PC. Of course music is just poor MIDI but graphics are really colorful and the adventure is complete.

This was odd beyond doubt although the illogical puzzles kept me at it just to see that next screen. Strange characters and locations kept my enthusiasm piqued and I just had to finish it. Not everyone's taste but I loved it.

Uses same engine like Fascination: Love both of these games.

As a lover of gaphical adventure games, I must say that this game reach his purpose being a point and click adventure game. The story was a bit of annoying indeed using the same old scenario of a witch, curse, potions, princess, etc.. , although the intro was mysteriously attractive and give us a lot of expectation for the game. Despite of what is said in this review, this game was not so difficult at all. The natural logic of the puzzle solvings were not as expected but this is a fantasy game, so the logic expected should be not so natural, but instead with some fantasy imagination and very very click and try well, the game was great, I always love the scenarios, the graphics, and the combination with the great music that made us involve into the mysterious ambience of this adventure game.
I recommend this game to every adventure enthusiast!
btw: could not finish it without using one little stupid thing that i miss in the walkthrough
P.S. The IBM PC version was slightly diferent that the amiga version, some scenarios were different and the animations were some kind of full motion videos and not graphical.

Not a very good game at all.

It's bascially a point-and-click adventure, minus all the fun.

First off, the interface is God-aweful, left-mouse to use things, right-mouse to bring up a list of object, and if you do it accidentally, then the menu comes up anyway and is a pain to get rid of.

The graphics are fine, though mostly gloomy and depressing to look at, and the character design isn't all that great.

Also annoying is the messages/text. One bascially has to wait until the character is finished talking to do anything, when what he says is redundant and done before (none-essential text, that is).

The gathering of the threeb grains (to beat the evil wizard, blah, blah, blah) section/levels are okay, but once done, we find that the wizard isn't there, and we have to play a whole mess of rooms as well!

The worst part is that, while in the begining the game's puzzle have some logic (some), by the latter half they are totally random. There is no logic to them. It's sort of like "Gobliiins", minus te fun and the sense of fullfillment and purpose. Add ot that the occasional pizel-hunting, and we've an adventure game that commits the worst crime adventure games can commit: pointlessness.

Stay away from this game!

Same engineof Fascination, I think, but totally different setting. This fantasy-like adventure in a cinematic first person can enjoy for a while.

One of the easier adventures, I can recall I got quite far in this, because many of the puzzles are quite obvious, here you view the world in still first-person dragging objects, etc with the mouse. The sound and graphics were very realistic, but as the story when on, it got too confusing for me.
