Fargle B Excellent for a video game adaptation. Lots of charm and fan service for Sonic fans. A fun blend of slice of life and action. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review Lakavion D This is my childhood show I really like the guy to go fast theme song season 1 was good because it's the chaos emerald saga 10 out of 10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Louie S Good combination of new and old plot, this uses content from sonic adventure specifically but also adds new content, it is set in station square from sonic adventure and has the plot of chaos but wi to new characters and other plot lines making it a good adaption/ continuation Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Tim B Loved coming home to this weekly as a kid! And it's ages well! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/22 Full Review Audience Member Sonic X is better, the characters are good and it makes a comedy only my problem: sonic grabs a ring to be a Spindash and does a bikini scene and doesn't like the episode is called: Showdown! Sonic's baseball team. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The only anime I have ever seen outside of a few episodes of Pokemon at the height of my obsession with Sonic (thankfully, I was blissfully unaware of the terrible things the fanbase does on the Internet in the Blue Blur's name and of the infamous 2006 game), Sonic X is cheesy, everybody hates Chris and knowledge of all the changes done for the sake of censorship can really taint my fond memories of watching this series. It did get especially absurd when the story arcs that adapted the Adventure games were affected by this, which were all-ages games that had dark backstories in their plots. But I did like this anime for the stuff it got right. It introduced us to the VAs for the characters who would reprise their roles in the games for the rest of the decade starting in 2005 (with the notable exception of Mike Pollock as Eggman, who remains the voice of Dr. Ivo Robotnik himself to this very day), the American and Japanese theme songs were both catchy, I laughed quite a bit and it was always nice to see Sonic do his thing. It did help distract from the show's limited animation, stemming from having a smaller budget than most anime. There's also the fact that, despite a few questionable changes, it was the most faithful adaptation of the game canon. The lore created for the American cartoons and comics where Sonic lives on a planet called Mobius, inhabited by funny animals and a hideously redesigned Robotnik is the only human never worked for me. Ironically, Sonic X has Sonic's world be just that. Go figure. Shame they never followed through on the potentially interesting plot of how Eggman ended up in a world inhabited by a big, blue hedgehog that speaks fluent English or Japanese after the SA2 arc entertained that idea. But yeah, I thought Sonic X was a perfectly fine video game adaptation that had its problems but wasn't butchered beyond recognition in the English dub. It is funny to see YouTube comments snark about the changes though, most notably 4Kids' aversion to words, however. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
