MMAG - colORCHESTRA Worldwide - Mia Mandineau, soprano

Meet the Artists! Mia Mandineau, soprano, France French soprano Mia Mandineau is quickly becoming recognized for her beautiful voice, sensitive artistry and compelling stage presence. Ms. Mandineau recently debuted at the Megaro Moussikis with the Athens State Orchestra in an exceptional concert celebrating the centenary of Xenakis, conducted by Nicolas Vassiliou. Her musicality and vocal quality did not go unnoticed by Greek critics, who acclaimed her sensitivity in such complexe contemporary repertoire. In the summer of 2023, she performed at the prestigious Theatre Festival ‘Printemps des Comédiens’ in Montpellier (France), in the successful play ‘Ismène’ by the Canadian author Carole Fréchette. In the same period, she debuted the role of Elle in Poulenc’s ‘La Voix Humaine’ which she co-produced with her stage partner the pianist and dancer Clément Rataud. Ms. Mandineau was selected from amongst an international pool of young singers to participate in the prestigious Sir Georg Solti Accademia during the summer of 2022, where she coached with internationally acclaimed artists Barbara Frittoli, Roberto Frontali and Richard Bonynge. During the 2020-21 season, Ms. Mandineau debuted at Het Concertgebouw in a concert presented by the Grote Zangers Foundation; participated in masterclasses given by acclaimed artists including Sergei Leiferkus, Linda Watson, Bejun Mehta, Lenneke Ruiten, and Dr. Bretton Brown; and performed the role of Mère Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites as part of the CvA Concert Opera Series. In addition to her work as a performer, Ms. Mandineau is passionate about arts education. As the founder of the successful YouTube channel L’Opéra et ses Zouz, she has enjoyed partnerships with the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, OperaVision, Detroit Opera, the National Swiss Opera, Palazzetto BruZane, and the national French radio and television. For her work on L’Opéra et ses Zouz, Ms. Mandineau received an important grant from the French National Centre of Cinematography (CNC) to further her work with the channel. Ms. Mandineau was awarded a Fellowship to SUNY Fredonia School of Music and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance, under the tutelage of Don Marrazzo, with whom she completed her Bachelor's Degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) and her Artist Certificate at the Musical Horizons Conservatory in Athens. -------------------------------------- The ColORCHESTRA Auditions are organized by ArtistVenture, Sound Espressivo, Progressive Musicians, and Virtual Concert Halls, in collaboration with Western New York Chamber Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic, Cairo Opera Orchestra, Boulder Symphony Orchestra, and with support of many organizations around the world. These uniquely designed Auditions are open to musicians of all ages who are available for soloist engagements within the 2023-24 and 2024-25 concert seasons. Selected artists will be awarded an appearance opportunity to perform solo with esteemed professional orchestras from around the world. This two-tiered audition has no accompanying requirements, is readily accessible by video submissions, and there is no time limit imposed on the selections that competitors choose to present—we want YOU to show us what you feel you do BEST! Meet the Artists! Alexis Dyche, piano, USA performing Beethoven – Piano Concerto No.2, Op.19 (I. Allegro con brio) Alexis Dyche is an 11-year-old who began playing the piano when she was 6. Training under the tutelage of Dr. Ji-Young Kim, Alexis first performed in public at the 2020 Tucson Music Teachers Association Ensemble event. In February 2021, Alexis was selected as one of the First-Place winners at the Charleston International 2021 Classical Music Competition and she later won First Place in the 2021 Reno-Tahoe Piano Competition. Additionally, in both 2021 and 2022, Alexis garnered First Place honors in the Arizona State Music Teachers Association annual state-wide piano competition. In 2022, she earned Second Place in the Bay Area Piano Competition and in 2023 won First Place honors in that competition. Also in 2023, Alexis was selected as a Laureate and performed at Carnegie Hall in the prestigious June 2023 gala in New York City. Later in June, she also performed at the International Prominent Pianists Festival in Buffalo, NY. Then in August 2023, she was selected as one of the First-Place winners at the Charleston International 2023 World Music Competition. Home-schooled for the past four years, Alexis is also a black belt in Dang Soo Do, a Korean martial arts sport and has won numerous gold medals at state and national competitions including all three first place medals at the 2023 National Championships. Music competitions often are a target of a lot of criticism. What is wrong with modern music competitions? How did the changes in music competitions scene over past 20-30 years affect the judging? What are the most common challenges for Judges? What are possible improvements and solutions? How does Sound Espressivo address the known issues? He has primarily used braille to learn music and it is an incredible pleasure to hear him play. Difonis’s family emigrated to the United States in 2000 on a temporary visa in search of educational resources for their son. They lived in New Jersey, then Brooklyn, N.Y., and finally Staten Island, N.Y. While in Brooklyn, they were connected with Lighthouse International, now Lighthouse Guild, where he was a member of the children’s program. Difonis learned Braille and enrolled in the Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School for those with vision loss. ___ Young Steinway Artist Artem Kopylov is an avid music ambassador, and is currently studying with Prof. Olga Chichova, one of the most celebrated and sought-after teachers in Toronto. A recipient of the Canadian Young Artist Standards of Excellence Awards Winner Notice, Artem is a winner of numerous national and international competitions for young pianists, performing with symphony orchestras in Toronto, Burlington, Moscow, and others. He is a first prize winner and laureate of the Steinway and Sons (New York City), GOCAA (Boston), 18th Nutcracker (Moscow) piano competitions, and others. Artem’s performances have been broadcast on Canadian national television by CBC and Radio-Canada. He has participated at festivals in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, U.S.A., Russia, and has taken master classes with prestigious pianists, including Dmitri Bashkirov, Marina Mdivani, Akiko Ebi, André Laplante, Bernd Goetzke, Bernd Glemser, Boris Petrushansky, Grigory Gruzman, Pavel Nersessian, Valeri Piasetski, and Stanislav Igolinsky. He has been featured as soloist with many ensembles including the San Jose State University Wind Symphony, the San Jose Wind Symphony, the University City Symphony, the Alton Symphony Orchestra, the Tulsa Camerata, the Lakeland Community Orchestra, the Jewish Community Orchestra-Portland and the South Kansas Symphony. Concertos performed include Schumann Piano Concerto, Rachmaninoff 2nd, McDowell 2nd, Liszt 2nd, Ravel in G, Gershwin in F, Gershwin "Rhapsody in Blue", Carter Pann "Concerto Logic" and Matthew Saunders "Piano Concerto". In addition to performing, Avguste Antonov is active as lecturer and has presented lectures for the Carrollton Music Teachers Association, Frisco Music Teachers Association, Kansas Music Teachers Association, Oklahoma Music Teachers Association and Wisconsin Music Teachers Association. He is an adjudicator for various competitions including the ENKOR Piano Competition, the Sound Espressivo Global Competition and the Music International Grand Prix. Previous seasons highlights include a recital at the Bulgarian Ambassador Residence in Washington, DC, the performance of Carter Pann "Concerto Logic" with the San Jose State University Wind Ensemble, a live performance for the Kansas Public Radio, the World and US Premiere of Matthew Saunders "Piano Concerto" with the University City Symphony (University City, MO) and the Lakeland Community Orchestra (Kirtland, OH). Since April 2019 Avguste Antonov resides in France. During the year 2019-2020, he was piano professor at the school of music "Couleur Musique" and since September 2020, he is professor of piano and accompaniment at the Conservatoire de Châteaubriant.
