UVa Alum Brittany Altomare to Represent USA in Solheim Cup

On Sunday afternoon the ten players named to the Solheim Cup by points were announced and UVa’s own Brittany Altomare has had such a stead season she has earned her first birth to the team.

Altomare, in her sixth season on the LPGA force has had one of the steadiest seasons on the tour making every cut on the season including a 5th place finish at June’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G and racking up $512,973 in on the course earnings this season.

The 2013 graduate had a stellar UVa career and was a four time All-American and was named the 2013 ACC Player of the Year in her fourth year.

Altomare will be the first professional UVa golfer to represent the United States in international play.

The Solheim Cup pitts the US against Europe, similar to the men’s Ryder Cup, and will be held September 12-15 at the PGA Centenary Court at the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.
