Madison Beer said she had the honor of sending her new music to another artist to get the stamp of approval — and it was one of her idols.

The singer, 24, announced last week that her forthcoming sophomore album would be arriving on September 15 — entitled Silence Between Songs. Beer told Rolling Stone that the album contains music influenced by the likes of Tame Impala, the Beach Boys, and Lana Del Rey — and she even had the chance to send some songs to Del Rey herself.

Beer said that after she sent the album to Del Rey, the singer took a liking to the opening song.

“[Del Rey] said she listened to it a couple of times back to back, and I can't believe that,” Beer told the magazine. “It's so awesome to have someone who has been such an idol of mine be so supportive of me and gracious always.”

Beer continued: “She's definitely someone that makes me believe in goodness.”

The artist also said that her first single off the album, “Home to Another One," which was released Friday, specifically pulls influence from Del Rey's Born to Die.

Beer got candid about making this new album in her memoir, The Half of It, which was released in April. “Music has always been my first love; it's what lead me to this memoir and what drives me daily," Beer told People at the time of the book's release. "I am really excited for what is next with my music this year.”
