In 2018 Grupo Bimbo joined RE100 initiative and announced its commitment to use 100% renewable electricity by globally by 2025. Some of their achievements include:

  • Global renewable electricity usage at 85%
  • 100% renewable in 22 countries, saving 560,000 tons of CO2 annually.
  • More than 110 solar roofs worldwide, accounting for more than 20,000 tons of C02 annually. These include the largest solar roof in Mexico, and the largest in South America, in Chile.
  • As part of the EPA's "Green Power Partnership", Grupo Bimbo has been named the 41st company in the US to consume 100% renewable energy from a clean source.

In November 2021, Grupo Bimbo announced its commitment to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050. The goal was developed following Science Based Targets initiative’s framework; by doing this, Grupo Bimbo has become the first Mexican food company to commit to “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” Campaign and join the United Nation’s ”Race to Zero” Campaign with targets established and validated by Science Based Targets.
