Cuadro Urbano - Primitivista, representa al pueblo hondureño viviendo en su naturaleza, con sus iglesias coloniales y sus calles empedradas y empinadas, rodeadas de la naturaleza. Es una muestra clara de la vida diaria del campesino.
Se puede observar que Velazquez muestra la idílica armonía y el ambiente pacifico de vivir en el campo. El peso visual de la obra o centro, es sin duda la textura y forma de las tejas de barro en las casas de adobe que resaltan y que es el equilibrio entre la parte de arriba (la naturaleza) y la representación de los campesinos. La composición llena de colores vivos y luminosos, nos connota alegría y vivacidad.
Las pinturas primitivistas de José Antonio Velazquez se convirtieron en un icono del arte hondureño y el rostro de Honduras. Pero esto genero polemica entre el pueblo hondureño, pues el unico inconveniente con está situación fue que la sociedad hondureña asumio que este paisaje nacional representaba solo a los pueblos del interior del país, sobretodo, a los poblados mestizos concentrados, quedando excluidos los grupos indígenas y naturalmente los negros que habitan la costa norte.
Luego de esto algunos artistas comenzaron a usar el primitivismo pero plasmando sus propias realidades cotidianas, en cuadros que fueron conocidos en los centros urbanos.

Urban - Primitive painting, representing the Honduran people living in nature, with its colonial churches and streets cobbled and steep, surrounded by nature. It is a clear demonstration of the daily life of the peasant.
It can be seen that Velazquez shows the idyllic harmony and the pacific environment of living in the field. The visual weight of the work or downtown, is undoubtedly the texture and shape of the tile in the houses of adobe that they highlight and that is the balance between top (nature) and the representation of the peasants. Full of bright colors and vivid composition, connotes us joy and liveliness.
The primitivists paintings of José Antonio Velazquez became an icon of the Honduran art and the face of Honduras. But this generated controversy among the Honduran people, because the only inconvenient with this situation was that the Honduran society assumed the this national landscape was only representing the people of the interior of the country, above all, the concentrated mestizo towns, excluding indigenous groups and of course blacks living in the North Coast.
After this some artists began to use the primitivism, but making their own everyday-reality in paintings that became known in urban centers.
