Call it the post-baby bob. Michelle Williams recently welcomed a new addition to her family, and the now mum-of-three made her return to the spotlight at the weekend with a chic new haircut to boot. The actor attended the LA premiere of her new movie The Fabelmans, in which she stars alongside Paul Dano, with her white blonde hair styled in an understated bob that hit just below her jaw. Coupled with fresh, natural make-up, a minimalist black dress by Celine and a smattering of Tiffany & Co. diamonds, Michelle’s simple hairstyle looked effortless and classic.

The new look is an evolution of the grown-out crop style Michelle has had for some time now, which in turn was an update on one of the best hairstyles in her back catalogue: her gamine pixie cut. The actor’s take on the Audrey Hepburn-esque crop was easily one of the most aspirational modern examples of the style (see her 2017 Oscar night look for further details), and now, she’s making the trending bob her own, too.

Williams has been a household name since she shot to fame as one of the stars of angsty teen drama Dawson’s Creek in the late ’90s, and has gone on to establish herself as one of the most respected actors in Hollywood (she’s a four-time Oscar nominee). While her Dawson’s co-star Katie Holmes has become something of a street-style phenomenon in recent years, her every cosy Khaite knit and cult trainer dissected on social media, Williams keeps a much lower profile. Still, when she does walk the red carpet – from that unforgettable mustard Vera Wang gown back in 2006, to her Chanel couture maternity look at Cannes this year – she never fails to nail it.
