Sandra Bullock’s Week Is Off to a Strong Start

Sandra Bullock has been having a fabulous week of outfits—and it’s only Tuesday! As one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, she’s of course no stranger to delivering a memorable red carpet moment (remember when she won the Golden Globe in 2010 wearing that purple, strapless Bottega Veneta dress?), but this week, her style has been especially exciting to witness. While promoting her new comedy-action film, The Lost City, she and stylist Elizabeth Stewart have embraced bold, brazen colors.

Bullock kicked off her press tour a few weeks ago, when she was first spotted on Stewart’s Instagram wearing a vibrant, long-sleeve Stella Jean dress in shimmery hues of blue and pink, complete with pointy-toe Giuseppe Zanotti stiletto boots. The glittery look takes cues from her character in the film, who is kidnapped while wearing a bright-pink sequin jumpsuit and then forced on a treasure-hunting expedition (yes, really). At the South by Southwest festival premiere for the film this past Saturday, Bullock continued with these punchy color motifs, this time with a bright-red suit and cut-out top from Stella McCartney’s spring 2022 collection

More recently, Bullock made a pit stop at the Stephen Colbert Show yesterday in New York, where she wore a total look by Lela Rose. It consisted of a pale pink blazer, black bra top, and multicolor-striped trousers—a tricky garment to pull off without veering into Beetlejuice territory. For the film’s screening later that night, she then switched into a below-the-knee dress by Stella Jean, which was embroidered with an abstract floral print, almost like a wearable painting. We love that Bullock hasn’t been shying away from pieces that command full attention. Her willingness to go for it almost makes quiet minimalism look like a total snooze!
