We're looking back on Madonna during her younger days at the end of the 1970s, when she was still just dreaming of the glory that was eventually to come.
The rise to fame of Madonna, the Queen of Pop, in 10 vintage photos
Let's journey back to the end of the 1970s, when a young girl named Louise Ciccone left her hometown in Michigan and came to New York City with dreams of being a professional dancer. With only 35 dollars to her name, the young ambitious brunette took up dance classes and booked photo-shoots, where she had no problem going nude, sparking the fuse for her shock-factor effect. Several years later, she released her debut album, which became an instant success. From there, Madonna was born, and so was her 40-year-long career.
“I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.”
