In a remarkable month for Disney's Animal Kingdom, the park has proudly welcomed not one but two delightful baby zebra foals.Park officials announced that the adorable duo can now be seen at the renowned Kilimanjaro Safaris, frolicking alongside their dad, Domino. Cricket, affectionately named after a Disney-Pixar's "A Bug's Life" character, was the first to grace the savanna, born to first-time mom, Juno, on May 29. The second bundle of joy, Dot, arrived just a few days later on June 4, and her name, a tribute to her father, Domino, cleverly references the film too. These Hartmann's mountain zebras are particularly captivating with their distinct stripes that stop right at their bellies, setting them apart from the more familiar zebras whose stripes extend across their entire bodies. Adding to their allure, each newborn zebra boasts a unique stripe pattern, making them truly one-of-a-kind. It's not just their appearance that makes these foals so special; their personalities have quickly endeared them to park visitors and caretakers alike. Cricket, a water enthusiast, has been frequently spotted enjoying her time splashing around in puddles on the savanna. On the other hand, Dot is a lively and spirited creature, often seen dashing across the vast savanna.Hartmann's mountain zebras are native to sub-Saharan Africa and face considerable challenges due to habitat loss and hunting, which has led them to be classified as a vulnerable species. However, Disney states this is a step toward supporting their survival.
