Rockford University hosts press conference ahead of MLK State of the Mind Address

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - State Representative Maurice West partners with Rockford University to address trauma in the community.

Rep. West, MENtality Unchained, Rockford University, The Jane Adams Center for Civic Engagement, Rockford University Forum Series and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated announce their partnership for the MLK State of the Mind Address.

The address focuses on the history of the civil rights movement including Martin Luther King Jr’s impact.

Rockford University hosts its first-ever MLK State of the Mind Address at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13 at Rockford University’s Maddox Theatre. Admission is free and open to the public.

I am thrilled to be part of this collaboration and bring together organizations and leaders to address the pressing issues of mental health and trauma that affect so many in our community. By fostering an open dialogue, we hope to create awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage positive action towards mental well-being.
