PolicenautsThose of you who are hyped for the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots may be interested to know that an earlier game from creator Hideo Kojima, Policenauts, is now available on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

This early work from Kojima, released in 1994 (originally on the NEC PC-9801, if you can believe that, with a PlayStation release in 1996), takes the form of a graphic adventure game with an old school point and click interface.

In the game, you control Jonathan Ingram, who wakes up in 2040 after a rather long slumber (25 years) thanks to a cryogenic freezing system. Soon after, you embark on a quest to try and find the missing husband of Ingram's estranged ex-wife.

The game was released on Japan's PSN store for 600 yen (around $6), and is playable on both the PSP and PlayStation 3. The original was never released outside of Japan, but with Kojima fandom being what it is, and the excitement surrounding the worldwide release of MGS4, maybe an updated port is in order (a fan led translation was completed last year).
