Batman Odyssey
As one of the comics industry's most respected artists and creators since the late '60s, Neal Adams needs little introduction. But he is nevertheless reintroducing himself to one of the many superheroes his art forever redefined after the Silver Age, in the form of Batman: Odyssey, due in July.

“I have been collecting bits and pieces of Batman’s life and time over the years since I was doing Batman regularly,” the award-winning Adams told DC Comics, which came clean with the news Friday on its official blog The Source. “With even this massive series, I haven’t been able to shove them all in. But the juiciest and richest morsels are there.”

A 12-part mini-series written and penciled by Adams, Batman: Odyssey finds the Dark Knight pitted against an array of seemingly disconnected villains, stratagems and dangers, all of which fuse together to form an overarching menace. Adams also plans to ink the first two issues, as well as team up with artistic luminaries from across the industry.

Perhaps one of them can explain why the Dark Knight is packing a pistol in the sneak-peek art pictured above. Got your own theory, Batman detectives? Let us know in the comments section below.
